Vietnamese leaders send congratulatory message on the occasion of Laos' National Day.
On the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2016), on December 1, Vietnamese leaders sent a congratulatory message.
On the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2016), on December 1st, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent congratulatory messages to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Bounnhang Vorachith, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Pany Yathotou.

The telegram read:
"We are extremely pleased to note that over the past 41 years, with fervent patriotism and a strong revolutionary tradition, the fraternal Lao people have achieved many great victories in the cause of defending and building the Fatherland, maintaining political and security stability, achieving high economic growth rates, and continuously improving the material and spiritual lives of the people. In particular, in 2016, Laos successfully organized the 10th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the 8th National Assembly elections and the elections of provincial/city People's Council representatives; and successfully assumed the chairmanship of ASEAN, further enhancing its role and position in the region and the world."
We sincerely wish the fraternal Lao people, under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party headed by General Secretary Bounnhang Vorachith, continued and even greater victories in implementing the Resolution of the 10th Party Congress and the 8th Five-Year Economic and Social Development Plan (2016-2020); and successfully building a peaceful, independent, democratic, unified, and prosperous Laos."
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh and Head of the Central Committee's Foreign Affairs Department Hoang Binh Quan also sent congratulatory messages to Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith and Head of the Central Committee's Foreign Affairs Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Sunthon Xayachack.
