Director Do Thanh Hai speaks at the conference on the afternoon of September 26 in Hanoi. |
On the afternoon of September 26, on the sidelines of the conference on implementing the Cinema Law, contributing opinions to the draft decree detailing a number of articles of the Cinema Law and the draft Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 38/2021/ND-CP, VietNamNet reporter had a short interview with director Do Thanh Hai - former Director of VFC, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television.
When asked about the recent scandals involving some actors, many viewers wondered if VTV had any regulations regarding inviting actors to act in VTV films or in which cases they would be banned from broadcasting, director Do Thanh Hai said that the artists who were allowed to act in VTV films must first have the public's sympathy and at the time of being selected to act in the film must not have violated the law.
In addition, during the filming process, being associated with programs of Vietnam Television in general, those actors must be aware of maintaining their image. "Because when appearing on national television, your image has an impact on the public, both professionally and emotionally," said Mr. Hai. However, this is only a recommendation for actors. When there is a problem or legal issue related to the individual actor, of course Vietnam Television has other regulations to intervene, such as stopping the broadcast or not allowing the film to be released anymore.

Hong Dang and Phuong Oanh are two actors who have appeared in many prime time dramas of VTV. |
As for artists who have not committed any specific violations or have committed some violations that are not related to the law but are only emotional, the production process still proceeds normally. Director Do Thanh Hai stated that currently there are opinions from the online community but they are not based on the law, are emotional, there are opinions that are cursing or have rude expressions, which does not mean that the station has to follow but must have its own opinion, but everything takes place on the principle of following the law and regulations of Vietnam Television.
Regarding VietNamNet's concerns about the fact that some actors, although not yet having a conclusion from the authorities, are opposed by the majority of the audience, will their participation in VTV's films affect the broadcast of the film? Director Do Thanh Hai shared that it is entirely the feelings of the filmmakers, the program production team when choosing artists to appear in their programs all have a content monitoring unit (including self-produced and joint programs). Therefore, when considering artists when there is nothing special but there is hesitation, they will have to discuss again.
When asked about the case of the two actors Hong Dang and Phuong Oanh, director Do Thanh Hai said that Hong Dang is not participating in the film at this time until there is a conclusion from the legal agency. As for Phuong Oanh, there is no basis but the public opinion is noisy so at the present time the actress has actively refused to accept the film. "From a legal perspective, nothing has been revealed and no agency has yet evaluated, but Phuong Oanh has proactively stopped making films for a year now," said Mr. Do Thanh Hai.
