Chinese consulate in Pakistan attacked, 2 people killed
Two police officers were killed and one guard was injured in an armed attack on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan on November 23.
Gunfire erupted from the Chinese Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, at 9:30 a.m. on November 23 (local time, or 11:30 a.m. Vietnam time).
At least four gunmen attempted to enter the consulate but were stopped by guards. Three gunmen were killed by police during the fighting.

The Chinese Consulate in Karachi is located in the Clifton area, which is a protected area with a heavy police presence. Authorities have cordoned off the area around the Chinese Consulate.
Local media reported that all consulate staff were safe. Witnesses reported seeing an explosion, while local television showed images of smoke rising from the Chinese consulate.
A Pakistani separatist group in Balochistan province has claimed responsibility for the attack.
China is Pakistan's neighbor and a close ally, major investor, pouring large sums of money into the country's infrastructure projects.
Balochistan is Pakistan's poorest province and the focus of a major Chinese investment project.
