Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei called the United States the main enemy of the Iranian people, a statement posted on his website said.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei calls the United States its main enemy.

"America is the main enemy in the literal sense of the word," Khamenei said in a speech to students.

"Concessions in the face of the US will give them strength and make them arrogant, on this issue, the only way is to resist," he stressed.

Mr. Khamenei noted that immediately after the Islamic Revolution, the US had a hostile attitude towards Tehran, and now they are trying to undermine the nuclear deal.

Yesterday, at a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Ali Khamenei proposed isolating the US, abandoning the dollar and replacing it with national currencies in bilateral and multilateral activities.
