Set up a 'ghost' company to smuggle hundreds of tons of traditional Chinese medicine from China to Vietnam

After establishing the company, Dao Cong Phu hired someone else to carry out import procedures to smuggle traditional Chinese medicine from China to Vietnam.

On June 12, the Investigation Police Agency of Da Nang City Police Department served the decision.prosecute, temporarily detained Dao Cong Phu (36 years old, residing in Thai Hung commune, Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province) to investigate the crime of smuggling.

According to the investigation, in 2020, Phu established a "ghost" company named Ngoc Son Company, hiring others to carry out import procedures for the purpose of smuggling traditional medicine from China to Vietnam for consumption.

Since its establishment, Ngoc Son Company has opened 6 customs declarations and imported a total of 21 containers of goods to Vietnam through Da Nang Port Border Gate, of which 16 containers have been cleared and transported for consumption.

The remaining 5 containers were undergoing customs clearance procedures when the Da Nang Port Customs Branch discovered that the goods inside were all traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, not agricultural products as declared, with a total weight of more than 100 tons, worth nearly 13 billion VND.

According to the investigation agency, this is an especially serious smuggling case, carried out by sophisticated methods and tricks, taking advantage of loopholes in customs clearance inspection to smuggle goods.

The incident is under investigation.
