Ahead of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday this year, several streets around the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ba Dinh Square will be turned into pedestrian zones.

According to the Hanoi Department of Transport, the streets slated to become pedestrian zones are the section from the intersection of Le Hong Phong and Ong Ich Khiem to the intersection of Chua Mot Cot and Ba Huyen Thanh Quan; and the section of Hung Vuong street (from Le Hong Phong to Chua Mot Cot).

This is a pilot project, phase 1, developed by the Department of Transportation following the directive from Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc regarding the pilot project of pedestrian streets around the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ba Dinh Square.

The implementation will be organized before May 19th, the 122nd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

In late March, the Prime Minister approved the plan to build a hotel and service complex to serve the general operations of central government agencies in the Ba Dinh political center, at 6-8 Chu Van An and 37 Hung Vuong - Lot H6. This complex will have approximately 600 rooms, will be equipped with modern and integrated facilities, and will be managed and operated by a competent agency.

In 2010, the Ministry of Construction submitted a plan to renovate Ba Dinh Square, which included expanding the grassy area to the south to create symmetry with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum on the main landscape axis of Bac Son, widening Doc Lap Street, and demolishing some villas... The detailed plan for the Ba Dinh political center area was approved in 2002, with a research scope of 135 hectares.
