Created a recruitment account, tricked people into getting jobs, then appropriated 845 million VND

(Baonghean.vn) - Creating an account to recruit workers and claiming to have acquaintances, Dinh committed many scams, appropriating the victims' assets for a total of 845 million VND.

On the morning of February 21, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Nguyen Van Dinh (born 1985), residing in Nghi Phong commune, Nghi Loc district, for the crime of "Fraud and appropriation of property".

According to the investigation, from April 2014 to December 2015, Nguyen Van Dinh committed 6 frauds, appropriating 845 million VND from the victims.

Dinh's method was to create an account called "vieclamnghean123", post job recruitment information on Chovinh.com, and include his phone number for job seekers to contact. When someone contacted him, he introduced himself as having many connections and could apply for jobs in positions like recruitment information for government agencies.

Depending on the job position, Dinh earned from the victims from 50 million to nearly 400 million VND. In addition, Dinh also "bragged" that he had an acquaintance who could apply to work in the US for 1,700 USD.

After receiving money from the victims, Dinh did not find jobs for them as promised but spent the money and fled. On August 10, 2016, Nguyen Van Dinh surrendered to Nghi Loc District Police.

At the trial, Nguyen Van Dinh admitted his crime. Dinh said that while on the run, he realized that his actions were against the law, so he turned himself in to enjoy leniency under the law.

The People's Court sentenced Nguyen Van Dinh to 11 years in prison and ordered him to compensate the victims for all the money he had embezzled.
