A raft carrying 17 people capsized off the coast of Quang Ninh after encountering a storm. Two people died in the incident.
On August 18th, the People's Committee of Dam Ha commune, Quang Ninh province, reported an incident that occurred at approximately 6:15 PM on August 17th at sea in the Ba Hon area, resulting in two fatalities.
Specifically, at approximately 8 PM on August 17th, the People's Committee of Dam Ha commune received a report from the Dam Ha commune police about the incident.raft capsizing accidentat sea.
The raft, owned by Nguyen Van Minh (born 1980, residing in Quang Minh 3 village, Dam Ha commune), was carrying 17 people and departed from Ghenh Vo wharf (Quang Ha commune) to go to the sea area of Binh Hai village (Dam Ha commune) to work in clam farming. During the journey, they encountered a storm, causing the raft to capsize.

Upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Dam Ha commune quickly coordinated with the People's Committee of Quang Ha commune, mobilizing military and police forces to organize rescue and search operations for the missing person.
However, due to prolonged heavy rain and the lowest sea level of the day, only one vessel from the Quang Duc Border Guard Station departed from Ghenh Vo port to participate in the search alongside the local people.
By 7:00 AM on August 18th, authorities had found the bodies of Ms. Nong Thi H. (born in 1984, residing in Quang Chinh 7 village, Quang Ha commune) and Mr. Tran Van T. (born in 1982, residing in Quang Minh 2 village, Quang Ha commune) in a local resident's oyster farming area.
The bodies of the two victims have been taken to Hai Ha Medical Center to complete the necessary procedures. The remaining 15 people have been brought ashore safely.
Currently, the People's Committee of Dam Ha commune is coordinating with the People's Committee of Quang Ha commune and other relevant agencies to verify and clarify the cause of the incident.
Earlier, at around 6:15 PM on August 17th, a strong storm also occurred in Quang Ha commune, Quang Ninh province, causing five aquaculture farmers to be in distress at sea in the Hon My area.
Immediately after receiving the report, the People's Committee of Quang Ha commune directed the functional forces to coordinate with the Quang Dien Border Guard Control Station to urgently search and rescue. By 7:15 PM the same day, all five people had been brought ashore safely.
