Marrying a villager

Once upon a time, in a certain village, there lived a farmer whose wife had died young, leaving him with three daughters. One year, the rice planting season arrived, but he couldn't find anyone to help him.

That day, he had to carry a heavy load of rice seedlings, bending his back under the weight. While resting along the way, he complained, "I have three daughters, but I can't find a son-in-law to help me..." Then he wished, "If only one of them could help me carry these to the fields right now, I would definitely marry one of them off." Just as he finished speaking, suddenly a voice came from behind him:

- If that's the case, then let me take the burden - Really?

Do you think I'd ever lie?

After answering, he quickly turned around, but saw no young man, only a wolf.

The wolf rushed into the rice seedling basket, lifted it effortlessly, and dashed out into the field.

That afternoon, I followed him home.

Unable to go back on his word, he went inside and called his three daughters out to ask them:

- Which of the three sisters would be willing to marry the village chief?

The eldest sister, who was the most arrogant and sharp-tongued in the family, said:

Oh my god, that wolf! Why did my father marry me off to him?

My older sister also said:

- Are you going to let it eat my child, father?

Seeing how the two sisters were behaving, the father began to feel disappointed. As for the youngest daughter, the most beautiful and gentle in the family, he asked:

- And what do you think, little one?... Little one replied:

- Father, it is entirely up to my parents to decide; I dare not answer!

And so it was all settled. That night, the village chief got to share a room with the youngest daughter.

The next morning, the youngest couple came out to greet the whole family. Oh dear, the disguise had been shed, and before everyone was a handsome, cheerful, and muscular young man, far more attractive than the other young men in the village.

The wedding was a grand affair, with plenty of buffaloes and seven cows, and festivities lasted for several days. During the wedding days, the groom's talents became apparent: he was the best wrestler and the best singer... When his flute played, the birds would gather around, chirping merrily.

The couple lived together harmoniously and worked hard. During the off-season, the husband would go deep into the forest to cut wood to build a large stilt house. The couple worked diligently and became increasingly wealthy, unmatched by anyone in the village.

Now, let's talk about the two sisters. Thanks to their beauty, many young men from the village came to propose marriage. But because of their arrogant and bossy nature, and the fact that they thought no one was as good as their sister's husband, they remained unmarried.

One day, feeling very sad, the two sisters decided to go look for their husbands.

Since they went into the forest, the two sisters haven't returned.
