(Baonghean.vn) - Along with management, detention, education, career guidance, vocational training, and vocational training for prisoners are always focused on by Prison Camp No. 6 to ensure that each inmate, after completing his/her reform term, being pardoned, or released early, can reintegrate into the community and become a useful person for his/her family and society.

1
Prison No. 6 under the General Department of Police Enforcement and Judicial Support (General Department 8) - Ministry of Public Security is currently detaining, educating and reforming more than 4,000 prisoners, including 1,000 female prisoners. After entering the prison, based on age, health, gender, sentence, nature, level of crime and wishes, and circumstances of each prisoner, the Prison Board will arrange for each person to study suitable professions such as: animal husbandry, farming, masonry, tailoring, sewing, making bamboo mats, false eyelashes...

These occupations are relatively suitable for the real social life outside, as well as the place where prisoners reside. The implementation of vocational training, vocational training and organization of production labor here ensures compliance with the provisions of the Law and the Labor Code: Prisoners work 8 hours/day; have days off on holidays, Tet, Saturdays and Sundays according to regulations.
2
With the existing conditions, the camp focuses on teaching prisoners to master techniques and technology, ensuring productivity and product quality. Accordingly, the camp also proactively builds workshops, facilitating management and education; especially for prisoners with high sentences and many criminal records; limiting cases of prisoners violating prison regulations, helping them feel secure and compete to reform. Through the results of labor, the material and spiritual life of prisoners is also improved when they enjoy a part of the fruits of their labor. In particular, the process of labor and vocational training brings excitement, joy, hope, helps them discover and promote their own strengths, understand their own value, which they previously ignored because of deviant behavior. Now, when working hard, they know how to appreciate the fruits of their labor and that of others.
1
In order for vocational training to be truly effective, Prison No. 6 is constantly innovating and diversifying from simple agriculture and forestry to developing industry - handicrafts - service labor... with the goal of catching up with the development trend of the outside society as well as orienting suitable jobs for prisoners. Colonel Vo Thanh Vinh - Deputy Warden of Prison No. 6 said: Along with diversifying training professions, the prison has expanded coordination and cooperation with businesses and vocational schools located in the area, completing projects approved by superiors with the determination to ensure that over 90% of prisoners are trained in a profession and are granted vocational certificates right in the prison, so that when prisoners complete their prison terms or are pardoned, they can reintegrate into the community and have stable jobs and incomes, support themselves and their families, and become useful people. And in fact, Prison No. 6 has coordinated with outside companies and units to help prisoners learn a trade and also to purchase products. At the same time, many prisoners after being released from prison, if they have a need, these companies will also accept them to work as other normal workers, if they have good skills and meet the job requirements.

Over the years, many prisoners, after completing their sentences, have been hired by companies such as Duc Phong Bamboo and Rattan Company, Hoang Long Sports Equipment Company, etc., and have made great progress in their skills and work. (In the photo: Prisoners are sewing balls)

It can be seen that having skills and stable jobs after being released from prison is not only the dream of prisoners but also the desire of the whole society. Therefore, working and learning a trade in prison has helped them understand the value of labor, appreciate the achievements they have made, and thereby realize that rehabilitation to have stable jobs is very necessary, so that those who have made mistakes can more easily reopen the door of life and build a new life./.
