Ceremony to receive the Certificate of Recognition for Nam Thinh boat building village.
(Baonghean.vn) - On March 15th, Dien Ngoc commune (Dien Chau district) solemnly held a ceremony to receive the Certificate recognizing Nam Thinh as a traditional shipbuilding village.
Shipbuilding is a long-standing traditional occupation of the people in Nam Thinh hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune. To date, the village has 10 shipbuilding workshops, employing over 100 workers, with an average income of more than 7 million VND per person per month. Each year, the village repairs and builds more than 100 boats of various types, with revenue from shipbuilding accounting for 25% of the total income in the commune.

With many achievements, in 2014, Nam Thinh hamlet in Dien Ngoc commune was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a traditional boat-building village. Accordingly, the province will provide the village with 2 billion VND to invest in infrastructure, developing the village to build more large-capacity boats, enabling further offshore fishing, thus contributing to economic development and the protection of maritime sovereignty.
