Commemoration of the 955th anniversary of the birth of King Uy Minh Ly Nhat Quang
(Baonghean)- On the morning of January 28th, at the Quả Sơn Temple National Historical Site in Bồi Sơn commune, Đô Lương district, a ceremony was held to commemorate the 955th anniversary of the birth of Uy Minh Vương Lý Nhật Quang.
Uy Minh Vương Lý Nhật Quang was the eighth son of King Lý Công Uẩn. He was instrumental in establishing settlements, fighting foreign invaders, securing the borders, and developing the economy, agriculture, and trade, such as developing mulberry cultivation and silkworm farming, weaving, rice production, and expanding transportation. He passed away in 1058. After his death, to express their sorrow and gratitude for his great contributions, the people of Thanh Hóa, Nghệ An, and Hà Tĩnh provinces built 55 temples dedicated to him, where incense is burned year-round. Among them, Quả Sơn Temple is the main temple located in Bồi Sơn commune, Đô Lương district. Every year on the 17th day of the 12th lunar month, the people of Đô Lương and the Bạch Ngọc region hold a memorial ceremony with the participation of many locals and visitors from all over. The Quả Sơn Temple Festival is held annually on the 18th, 19th, and 20th of the first lunar month.
At the ceremony, delegates and people offered incense, flowers, and other offerings, and lit incense to commemorate Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang, who made great contributions to the Hoan Chau region more than 1000 years ago.
