Hat Mon Temple Festival receives National Intangible Cultural Heritage Certificate
On April 12 (the 6th day of the third lunar month), Phuc Tho district, Hanoi organized the traditional Hat Mon Temple festival 2016, commemorating the 1976th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung uprising and the ceremony to receive the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Certificate.
Hat Mon Temple (Hat Mon Commune, Phuc Tho District, Hanoi) is a temple to worship the Trung Sisters, who rose up to defeat the invading Eastern Han army in 40 AD. The temple has a majestic architecture, beautiful landscape, a rich system of artifacts in terms of types and materials, of which the most prominent is the set of 22 royal decrees dating from the Le, Tay Son to Nguyen dynasties.
The Hat Mon Temple Festival is held from the 4th to the 6th of the third lunar month every year to commemorate the merits of the Trung Sisters, with the highlight being the ritual of carrying banh troi into the Temple to offer to the Trung Sisters. In 2013, Hat Mon Temple was recognized by the Prime Minister as a special national monument.

With its unique features, in 2016, the Traditional Festival of Hat Mon Temple was ranked as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is an honor and pride for Hat Mon Commune, Phuc Tho District in particular and Hanoi Capital in general, at the same time making the relic more meaningful, valuable and widespread, attracting tourists from all over the world.
At the ceremony, the leaders of Phuc Tho district requested the Central Government and the city to continue to pay attention to directing and approving the project to expand the Hat Mon Temple relic site and invest in synchronous implementation of items to be worthy of the status of a special national relic and national intangible cultural heritage.
Within the framework of the Festival, on April 12, the Organizing Committee of the Hat Mon Temple Festival held a ceremony to offer banh troi to Hai Ba Trung, an incense offering ceremony and a rally to commemorate the 1976th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung uprising (40-2016). In addition, there were physical education and sports activities, folk games, and art performances attracting thousands of visitors from near and far./.
