Memorial service for the last emperor of the Tay Son dynasty, Nguyen Hue
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 2, the 15th day of the 10th lunar month, the death anniversary of King Canh Thinh (1783 - 1802) was solemnly held at Dai Tue Pagoda, Nam Anh Commune (Nam Dan).

This is an annual activity of Dai Tue Pagoda to commemorate King Canh Thinh (Nguyen Quang Toan) - the second son of King Quang Trung; at the same time, it is also an opportunity to show gratitude to the predecessors who contributed to the construction of this pagoda.

At the ceremony, Venerable Thich Tho Lac - Deputy Head of the Central Cultural Committee, Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Abbot of Dai Tue Pagoda reviewed the history of the pagoda and recalled the merits of the ancestors.
Thereby, the Venerable wishes that Venerables, monks, nuns, and Buddhists together promote the spirit of patriotism, strictly comply with legal regulations; practice healthy religious activities, ensure civilized places of worship; strive to build a civilized lifestyle, and effectively implement the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas".
Nguyen Quang Toan or Emperor Canh Thinh was the second son of King Quang Trung (Nguyen Hue). He ascended the throne in August 1792 at the age of 9, after Nguyen Hue died, the following year he changed the reign name to Canh Thinh. In August 1801, he changed the reign name to Bao Hung. Nguyen Quang Toan was the second Emperor of the Tay Son dynasty, Nguyen Hue branch, and also the last Emperor of this dynasty. |
