Le Quang Liem receives big reward after hat-trick of championship
Vietnam's No. 1 chess player, Le Quang Liem, once again affirmed his talent at the Biel Chess Festival 2024.

With a solid playing style, sharp moves and a steely fighting spirit, Le Quang Liem gradually created a safe distance from his opponents. A convincing victory over the number 1 seed Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa in the penultimate round helped him officially win the championship one round early.
This is the third consecutive time that Le Quang Liem has won the Biel Chess Festival. Previously, he won the championship twice in 2022 and 2023. This victory not only affirms Le Quang Liem's outstanding talent but also contributes to raising the position of Vietnamese chess on the world chess map.
With the title he just achieved, Le Quang Liem was awarded 10,000 Swiss Francs (about 286 million VND). He also accumulated 10 elo and increased 1 rank to 16th in the world with a total elo of 2,741.
