Le Quang Liem receives a big reward after his hat-trick of championships.
Vietnam's number one chess player, Le Quang Liem, once again affirmed his talent at the Biel Chess Festival 2024.

With his solid playing style, sharp moves, and steely fighting spirit, Le Quang Liem gradually created a safe distance from his opponents. His convincing victory against the top seed Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa in the penultimate round secured him the championship title one round before the end of the tournament.
This is the third consecutive time Le Quang Liem has won the Biel Chess Festival. Previously, he won twice in 2022 and 2023. This victory not only affirms Le Quang Liem's outstanding talent but also contributes to raising the profile of Vietnamese chess on the world chess map.
With this title, Le Quang Liem was awarded 10,000 Swiss Francs (approximately 286 million VND). He also gained 10 Elo points and moved up one rank to 16th in the world with a total Elo rating of 2,741.
