After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, a group of professors, doctors and his family, due to old age and poor health, comrade Nguyen Khanh passed away at 20:57 on July 19, 2023, at the 108 Central Military Hospital, at the age of 96.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family deeply regret to inform:

ComradeNguyen Khanh(birth name Nguyen Ngoc Khanh), born on March 31, 1928; hometown: Ha Hoi Commune, Thuong Tin District, Ha Tay Province (now Hanoi City); permanent residence at No. 63, Tran Quang Dieu, Dong Da District, Hanoi City; current residence: Room 11, 22nd floor, Sunshine Building, No. 9 Vu Pham Ham, Yen Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi City; participated in the August 1945 revolutionary activities; joined the Party on February 20, 1947.

He was an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, term V; member of the Party Central Committee, term VI and VII; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, term VI; Deputy Prime Minister; Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; National Assembly delegate, term VIII, IX, and X.

After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, a group of professors, doctors and his family, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 20:57, July 19, 2023 (June 2, Quy Mao year) at the 108 Central Military Hospital, at the age of 96.

During nearly 80 years of revolutionary activities, he made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and the State, the 75-year Party membership badge, and many other noble medals and orders.

To express condolences and acknowledge the achievements and contributions of comrade Nguyen Khanh, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold the funeral of comrade Nguyen Khanh with the State funeral ceremony.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF FUNERAL OF COMRADE NGUYEN KHANH

The Party Central Committee Secretariat has decided to establish a State Funeral Committee consisting of 24 comrades, headed by Comrade Le Minh Khai - Party Central Committee Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister.

Comrade Nguyen Khanh's coffin lies at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi City.

The visitation will be held from 7:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023 (June 7, Quy Mao year).

Memorial service at 10:15 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2023; followed by funeral and cremation at Hoan Vu Crematorium, Van Dien, Hanoi City.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. the same day at the hometown cemetery in Ha Hoi commune, Thuong Tin district, Hanoi city.

Comrade Nguyen Khanh (birth name Nguyen Ngoc Khanh), born on March 31, 1928; hometown: Ha Hoi Commune, Thuong Tin District, Ha Tay Province (now Hanoi City); permanent residence at No. 63, Tran Quang Dieu, Dong Da District, Hanoi City; current residence: Room 11, 22nd floor, Sunshine Building, No. 9 Vu Pham Ham, Yen Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi City; participated in the August 1945 revolutionary activities; joined the Party on February 20, 1947.

WORKING PROCESS

From August 1945, he was a propaganda officer of the Viet Minh Provincial Committee and the Information and Propaganda Department of Thai Nguyen province, and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam in February 1947.

From February 1947, he was Chief of Office of the Information Department of Zone I.

From May 1948, he was Head of the Propaganda Department of the Viet Minh Provincial Committee, Member of the Party Committee of the Viet Minh Front, Lien Viet of Thai Nguyen province.

Since December 1950, he was Secretary of the Provincial Youth Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union for National Salvation of Thai Nguyen province.

From November 1955, he was an officer of the Viet Bac Regional Party Committee Office.

From July 1959, he was Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Viet Bac region.

From January 1960, he studied at Nguyen Ai Quoc High-Level Party School.

From September 1961, he studied political theory in the Soviet Union and was a postgraduate student of Philosophy at the Soviet Academy of Sciences.

From April 1964, he worked in the department preparing to establish the Central Theoretical Research Board.

Since April 1965, he has been a researcher at the Central Party Office. Since 1968, he has been a Standing Committee member and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Party Office.

From July 1976, he was Deputy Chief of the Central Party Office. From January 1980, he was Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Party Office.

At the 5th National Congress of the Party (March 1982), he was elected as an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, and then appointed as Chief of the Party Central Office.

At the 6th National Congress of the Party (December 1986), he was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and was elected by the Party Central Committee to the Party Central Committee Secretariat.

Since February 1987, he has been Vice President and Secretary General of the Council of Ministers.

At the 7th National Party Congress (June 1991), he was re-elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and continued to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers.

In March 2003, he was retired by the Party and State, enjoying the regime and policies according to regulations.

He was an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, term V; member of the Party Central Committee, term VI and VII; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, term VI; and National Assembly delegate, term VIII, IX, and X.
