The memorial service was held at 10:45 a.m. on June 3. The burial ceremony was held the same day at Thien Duc Cemetery, Phu Ninh District, Phu Tho Province.

According to information from the National Assembly Office, former Chief of the National Assembly Office Vu Mao passed away at 01:39 on May 30, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Vu Mao, born on December 19, 1939, is from Hai Anh commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province; permanent residence is room 206, house N3, lane 36, Van Bao street, Lieu Giai ward, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi city. He participated in revolutionary activities since 1950, joined the Communist Party of Vietnam on April 27, 1962.

Mr. Vu Mao has held the following positions: Member of the Party Central Committee, terms V, VI, VII, VIII, IX; Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, terms IX, X, XI; National Assembly delegate, terms VIII, IX, X, XI; former: Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Assembly Office, Chairman of the National Assembly and State Council Office, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Youth, Adolescents and Children, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

He received the 55-year Party membership badge, the First Class Independence Medal, the Third Class Anti-American Medal, the First Class Merit Medal and the Grand Marshal Medal of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the First Class Issara Medal of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and the Rising Sun Medal of the King of Japan.

After a period of illness, despite the wholehearted care and treatment of the Party, State, professors, doctors, nurses and family, due to old age and poor health, Mr. Vu Mao passed away at 01:39 on May 30, 2020 (April 8, Canh Ty year) at his home.

Mr. Vu Mao's funeral was held according to the High-Level Funeral Ceremony protocol, chaired by the National Assembly Standing Committee. The visitation took place from 7:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on June 3, 2020 at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

The funeral service will be held at 10:45 a.m.; the procession will be held at 11:15 a.m. the same day. Burial will be at Thien Duc Cemetery, Phu Ninh District, Phu Tho Province.

From August 1964 to March 1972, Mr. Vu Mao was a lecturer at Hanoi University of Water Resources, Deputy Head of the Department of Water Resources, Deputy Secretary of the Faculty Party Cell, Deputy Secretary of the School Youth Union. He also worked at Quang Ninh Irrigation Department as Head of Planning Department; Deputy Head of Irrigation Department; Alternate Provincial Party Committee Member, Official Provincial Party Committee Member, Head of Irrigation Department, Member of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of Tien Yen District Party Committee, Quang Ninh Province from April 1972 to April 1980.

From May 1980 to January 1981, Mr. Vu Mao was a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union. At the 4th National Youth Union Congress (November 1980), he was elected Secretary of the Central Youth Union.

Mr. Vu Mao was the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in charge of organization. At the 5th National Congress of the Party, he was elected to the Central Committee of the Party, assigned to be the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front from February 1981 to 1986.

From 1987 to 1992, he was a member of the Party Central Committee, a delegate to the 8th National Assembly, a member of the State Council, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Youth and Children, Chairman of the Office of the National Assembly and the State Council, and Chairman of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association.

From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Vu Mao held the positions of Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Party Delegation of the National Assembly, Deputy of the 9th National Assembly, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office, Vice President of the Union of Solidarity, Peace and Friendship of Vietnam with other countries, President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association.

From 1997 to 2002, he was a member of the Party Central Committee, a member of the National Assembly Party Delegation, a delegate to the 10th National Assembly, a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Head of the National Assembly Office, and Head of the National Assembly Session Secretariat.

Mr. Vu Mao was a member of the Party Central Committee, member of the National Assembly Party Delegation, deputy of the 11th National Assembly, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, and Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee from 2002 to 2007.

In January 2008, he was granted retirement benefits by the Party and State according to regulations./.
