Le Thi May Anh overcame difficulties and excelled in her studies.
(Baonghean)Lô Thị Mây Anh was born and raised in Xốp Hốc - Diên Lãm village, Quỳ Châu district. For four consecutive years, she has achieved the title of Excellent Student with an average score of over 9.1 points.
Every school year, May Anh consistently wins top prizes in the "Neat Handwriting" competition organized by the school. Her classmates also greatly admire her, not only for excelling in Math and Vietnamese but also for her strong performance in other subjects. For a student in a remote area with limited resources, this level of effort is truly remarkable. May Anh shared: "In class, if I don't understand something, I ask the teacher to explain it again so I can understand it better. At home, I review the old lessons and look at the next day's lesson so I can participate in class discussions and pay close attention to the teacher's lectures to grasp the knowledge immediately."
As the class deputy for academics, May Anh always strives to bring the class to the top in the school's "Good Teaching, Good Learning" movement. She is also a core member who enthusiastically participates in movements launched by the Youth Union. Over the past four years, May Anh has consistently received Certificates of Merit for "Good Child of Uncle Ho" and certificates for achieving 5 badges from the Executive Committee of the Dien Lam Commune Youth Union and the Quy Chau District Youth Union.
May Anh was born and raised in a poor family in the commune, whose economy depended solely on 8 hectares of rice paddies, resulting in chronic hunger. Her father worked as a laborer to earn money to buy rice for the whole family. Besides her studies at school, she also helped her mother with household chores. In the remote Dien Lam commune, there is no national power grid, and people mainly use mini-hydroelectric power plants for lighting. Therefore, she always made sure to save time to study, do her homework, and attend classes regularly.
Despite facing numerous family difficulties, May Anh never considered dropping out of school. Teacher Quang Van Lang, the homeroom teacher of class 4A at Dien Lam Primary School, said: “What we appreciate most is May Anh's studious spirit, diligence, hard work, and empathy for her friends, which have helped her overcome many challenges to achieve excellent academic results. She is a shining example of perseverance and academic excellence for her peers to learn from and emulate.”
