After a trip lasting more than a month, Vietnam’s first Kilo submarine arrived at Cam Ranh port. On January 3, the mother ship Rolldock Sea was submerged so that Kilo 636 Hanoi could come out and anchor at the pier, officially operating in the sovereign waters of the Fatherland.
On the morning of January 8, for the first time, the Kilo Hanoi submarine left Cam Ranh military port and headed to the East Sea for testing before the official handover ceremony.
Previously, according to Thanh Nien newspaper, Russian news agency RIA Novosti quoted a spokesman for the Russian Defense Industry Complex (MIC) on January 9 as saying: "At the end of January 2014, the signing ceremony of the handover of the second Kilo-class submarine will take place in St. Petersburg." After signing the handover, a transport ship will carry the second Kilo-class submarine from the Baltic Sea to Vietnam.
RIA Novosti reported that Russia is expected to deliver the third Kilo-class submarine to Vietnam this year.
