The 'Unification of the Country' Flag Raising Ceremony is large-scale, solemn and emotional

On the morning of April 30, at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Relic Site, Quang Tri province solemnly held the "Unification of the Country" flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2022); the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Quang Tri province (May 1, 1972 - May 1, 2022); the 50th anniversary of the 81-day and night battle to protect Quang Tri ancient citadel.

From early morning, a large number of armed forces, representatives of agencies, units, local veterans, and a large number of people and tourists from inside and outside the province gathered at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Relic Site to attend the Flag Raising Ceremony and participate in the National Reunification Day.

At exactly 7:15 a.m., the red flag with a yellow star was slowly raised on the flagpole to the majestic music of the national anthem. Delegates and thousands of people respectfully and solemnly performed the flag-raising ceremony.

Speaking at the Flag Raising Ceremony for National Reunification, Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, recalled the memories of a heroic and glorious time, but also soaked in blood and tears, while honoring the immortal feats and deeply expressing gratitude for the great sacrifices of previous generations to protect the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

After the Geneva Agreement in 1954, Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge became a temporary military demarcation line, directly witnessing the pain of the country's division. Our people from the Ha Giang border to Ca Mau cape, for 21 years, had to live in a situation of "two halves of the country and two regions". In that "boiling oil and fire" situation, the people of Quang Tri on both banks of Ben Hai River remained steadfast at the forefront of the waves and winds, together with the whole country, smashing the war strategies of the US - puppet. Under the rain of bombs and bullets of the enemy, the national flag at the border bridgehead still proudly flew day and night, becoming a symbol of the will to unify, a belief and hope for our compatriots in the South to turn day and night to the North, to the Party and beloved Uncle Ho. The red flag with a yellow star urged the army and people of Quang Tri to fight steadfastly, achieving many resounding victories. On May 1, 1972, Quang Tri was the first province in the South to be completely liberated, "This land has only one yellow flag with a star".

In the spring of 1975, Quang Tri together with the whole country wrote a great victory, North and South united, unifying the country. The war has gradually receded into the past, but the memories of those heroic and glorious years still live forever in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. Ben Hai - Hien Luong has been engraved in the history of the nation and the subconscious of humanity, forever a shining symbol of faith and aspiration for national unification and aspiration for peace.

We are forever grateful for the great sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers, of compatriots and soldiers nationwide to protect the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and for eternal peace and happiness for the Vietnamese people.”

The “Unification of the Country” Festival is one of the typical revolutionary festivals of Quang Tri and the whole country. This year, the festival is organized on a larger scale, attracting not only the army and people of Quang Tri but also many organizations and individuals from all over the country to attend.

Present at the Flag Raising Ceremony for National Reunification, veteran Le Hong Son, in Ho Xa town, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province, emotionally shared that this year's Flag Raising Ceremony for National Reunification was even more special as it coincided with the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Quang Tri. Compared to previous years, this year's Flag Raising Ceremony was held more solemnly, on a grander scale, and attended by a large number of people.

Representatives of all walks of life, departments and organizations paraded past Hien Luong Flag Tower.

“I was born and raised in the border area. Every time I see the national flag, I feel elated and moved. When the war broke out, I saw the flag. Today, when the country is unified, every time I see the national flag raised on the flagpole, I feel proud to have been born and raised in the border area. Especially today, the Flag Raising Ceremony for National Reunification brings many emotions,” said veteran Le Hong Son.

Within the framework of the National Reunification Festival, Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province organized a boat racing festival on Ben Hai River. This is a traditional boat racing festival held annually by the locality on the occasion of April 30 and is eagerly awaited and cheered by many people. This year, many people and tourists came to the Hien Luong - Ben Hai Special National Monument to attend the National Reunification Festival and watch the entertainment activities.

Also this morning, April 30, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province coordinated with Quang Tri Development Joint Venture Company Limited to organize the launching ceremony of the Quang Tri Industrial Park project. Attending the program were President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; Mr. Do Van Chien, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders of a number of ministries and branches; and leaders of Quang Tri province.

At the ceremony, the leaders of Quang Tri province presented the Decision approving the investment policy, the Investment Registration Certificate and the Decision establishing the Industrial Park to Quang Tri Development Joint Venture Company Limited.

Quang Tri Industrial Park covers an area of ​​481 hectares, with the initial development phase covering 97 hectares. The project is aimed at promoting the socio-economic development of Quang Tri province in the East-West economic corridor, connecting Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar./.
