(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 6, the Nghe An Vovinam Association held a traditional day to commemorate Founder Nguyen Loc on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of his death (1960 - 2015), and at the same time educate the young generation of Vovinam about the traditions and philosophy of the martial arts of the Viet Vo Dao sect.
Attending were representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, universities and colleges in the area, martial artist Phan Ngoc Lan, Vice President of Vovinam Nghe An Association and many coaches and martial artists of the two schools in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.

Vovinam - Vietnamese martial arts is a unique martial art that was formed in 1938 by Master Nguyen Loc, who distilled the cultural essence and quintessence of Vietnamese martial arts. Vovinam, with its pure Vietnamese nature, aims to guide generations of Vietnamese youth to love their country, live a useful life with a strong body, intelligent mind, a kind soul and noble morality with the main spirit "A steel hand placed on a compassionate heart".
Over the years, Vovinam has grown steadily, developed widely in provinces and cities across the country and spread to nearly 60 countries around the world. Vovinam has also been chosen as an official competition representing Vietnamese martial arts to participate in sports events such as SEA Games, Asian Indoor Games and many tournaments at the continental and world levels. In Vietnam, Vovinam has competed in the National Sports Festival, Phu Dong Sports Festival and has been selected by the Ministry of Education and Training to be included as one of the physical education subjects in universities, colleges and high schools.

Nghe An Vovinam Association was established by Nghe An Provincial People's Committee under Decision No. 3274/QD-UBND dated July 15, 2014, aiming to develop the Vovinam practice movement among the young generation of the province. With the spirit of resilience and overcoming difficulties of Nghe An people combined with the martial spirit of "devotion to the benefit" of Vovinam students, from the first Vovinam Club at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, to date there have been many more Clubs in schools such as Vinh University, Van Xuan University, Vietnam - Korea Vocational College,... and some other districts and towns. In recent years, Nghe An Vovinam delegation has always been ranked in the Top 5, Top 6 in the national Medal table.
The occasion of this traditional day is also an opportunity for Vovinam - Viet Vo Dao Nghe An - Ha Tinh students to meet, exchange culture, perform martial arts and strengthen their friendship.
