The 9th National Sports Festival - 2022 will be held from November 18 to December 21, 2022 (opening on December 9 and closing on December 21, 2022), with the participation of 63 provinces, cities and sectors nationwide, competing in 941 events of 43 sports.

Quang Ninh province is the main host; the provinces and cities of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Vinh Phuc, Hai Duong, Hoa Binh, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Ninh Binh, and Nam Dinh are the localities selected to host competitions in a number of sports.

Nghe An Sports Delegation attending this Congress has 263 officials, coaches, and athletes, competing in 20 events (Weightlifting, Sepak Takraw, Wrestling, Vovinam, Traditional Martial Arts, Pencak Silat, Boxing, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Wushu, Karate, Shuttlecock, Petanque, Athletics, Diving, Muay, Jujitsu, Football, Pole Pushing and Tug of War) with 148 events; aiming to rank the entire delegation from 17th to 15th out of 65 provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide.

This is an opportunity to affirm the development of Nghe An High Performance Sports, at the same time evaluate the training and coaching of high performance athletes of the province in recent years and draw experience, propose solutions to prepare for the development goals for high performance sports of Nghe An province in the coming years.

In order to prepare for the successful participation in the 9th National Sports Congress in 2022, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 557/KH.UBND dated October 5, 2021 on participation in the 9th National Sports Congress in 2022 and a number of other related documents.

The Department of Culture and Sports also issued 31 decisions to send 20 teams for training and outdoor competitions and send athletes and coaches to train at National Sports Training Centers and strong sports centers nationwide.

Speaking at the departure ceremony, Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee commended the athletes who achieved achievements at the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam and international tournaments in 2022 as well as the achievements of Nghe An Sports and Physical Training sector in the past time.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that in order to achieve high results at the upcoming National Sports Festival, the Nghe An sports delegation needs to strive to surpass itself, compete with honesty, nobility and intelligence to excellently complete the ranking target of 17-15 for the entire delegation assigned by the Provincial People's Committee.
