Ledecky becomes the most successful female swimmer in the history of the world championships

Winning the women's 1,500m freestyle final, the American female swimmer won her 12th world championship gold medal - an achievement no one can match.

Still with the style of winning easily like "taking things from the bag", Ledecky finished after 15 minutes 31 seconds 82, leaving behind the second place opponent Mireia Belmonte by more than 19 seconds.

That achievement helped the 20-year-old swimmer surpass her senior Missy Franklin, becoming the female athlete who won the most gold medals in the FINA World Championships.

It was also Ledecky's third victory at the tournament taking place in Budapest. After the 1,500-meter freestyle final in less than 50 minutes, she continued to participate in the 200-meter freestyle semi-finals and achieved the best result with 1 minute 54 seconds 69. This event had the presence of the famous athlete of the host country, Katinka Hosszu, but the "Iron Lady" lost to Ledecky by 1 minute 29 seconds.

Ledecky's achievement was one of the highlights of the third day of the tournament, alongside a series of world records broken, most notably Adam Peaty. The British swimmer broke the world record twice in a row in the qualifying round and semi-final of the men's 50m breaststroke, with times of 26.10 seconds and 25.95 seconds, respectively. It is not known what milestones Peaty will reach in the final round taking place today, July 26.

While the performance of the American male swimmers in this tournament was not good, the female swimmers from the land of the stars and stripes continued to make their mark. Lilly King excellently broke the world record in the 100m breaststroke with a result of 1 minute 04 seconds 13.
