The last time Tottenham won at Stamford Bridge was in 1990. 26 years and Tottenham once again failed to overcome the pressure of history, despite leading Chelsea by two goals.
Dominating and confident in the first half, Tottenham took the lead thanks toHarry Kane and Song Heung Min.
Everything changed when Gary Cahill scored to reduce the score in the second half. Chelsea seemed to be a different team, with high excitement. Eden Hazard came on and the best player of last season scored the goal to tie the score, making Tottenham's dream come true. Hazard was also the one who made strong statements before the match, wanting Leicester to win the title, not the team in the same city.
Leicester fans and many fans held their breath as the six minutes of added time passed. When referee Mark Clattenburg blew the final whistle, Leicester City erupted in joy. The Foxes, with a seven-point lead over Tottenham, were officially crowned champions with two games to spare. Meanwhile, Leicester's players celebrated at Jamie Vardy's house after watching the whole match together.
The last person from Leicester to know the news was probably coach Claudio Ranieri. The Italian coach took a flight back to Italy on the evening of May 2.

Tottenham dominated from the start with a well-organized midfield. The away teamopened the scoring in the 35th minute after a series of chances created early in the match. Kane broke the offside trap, dribbled past goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and finished into an empty net. Chelsea's defense was very crowded in this situation but was helpless against Tottenham's smooth coordination.
At the end of the first half, Bran Ivanovic passed the ball to Kane, helping Tottenham counterattack quickly. Christian Erikssen received the ball and immediately passed it to Heung Min to double the gap. The Korean midfielder started, replacing the suspended Dele Alli.

Hazard was brought on at the start of the second half. Chelsea were still playing deadlocked until Cahill narrowed the gap from a corner kick. From then on, Tottenham lived in fear of the home team's continuous attacks. Hazard and Willian were the players who attacked left and right, creating dangerous situations.
Coach Guus Hiddink sent Oscar in to replace defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic, increasing the firepower to find an equalizer. In the 83rd minute, Hazard scored the decisive goal.
Thus, the gap between Leicester and Tottenham is still 7 points, with only 2 rounds left in the Premier League. From an outsider with a "fun" championship odds at the beginning of the season of 5000/1 (bet 1 to win 5000), Leicester surprised everyone. "The Foxes" started the season as one of the candidates for relegation, along with Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth. After a season almost having to return to the First Division, they invited coach Ranieri to take over the hot seat last summer to replace the fired Nigel Pearson.
Leicester's achievement is like a fairy tale. Former football star Gary Lineker said it was "one of the biggest shocks in world sports history". Leicester's story is ranked with Nottingham Forest's success from 1976 to 1980. Nottingham won the national championship in their first season of promotion and then won the European championship a year later. Or the story of boxer James Buster Douglas knocking out the undefeated Mike Tyson in Tokyo in 1990.

The unbearable moment of Leicester fans. Photo: Reuters. |
Leicester first topped the table in round 13, on November 22 last year. After that, Man City and Arsenal took turns to take the lead, while Leicester maintained stability.
In the fierce period in February, Man City slipped when the news of the coach change was announced. Arsenal, as usual, stumbled in the sprint. Only Leicester and Tottenham were left to form a pair. Tottenham sacrificed the Europa League arena, focusing on fighting Leicester but still had important points to lose, against Liverpool and West Brom. Leicester with minimal 1-0 wins slowly advanced to the finish line with the cheers of many fans.
Leicester have only lost three games this season.
