Sneaking more than 700 iPhones from abroad to Vietnam
Ngo Thach Hao, 33 years old, was accused of repeatedly smuggling 709 iPhone 12, 13, 14 phones from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City for sale.
On October 13, Hao was temporarily detained by Ho Chi Minh City Police for "Illegal transportation of goods across the border".

Previously, the Economic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with Customs and Security at Tan Son Nhat Airport discovered Hao had 246 iPhones in his carry-on luggage on a flight from Singapore. Among them were many used iPhone 12, 13 Promax; new iPhone 14 Promax...
Expanding the investigation, searching Hao and his accomplices, the authorities found 463 old iPhones. The total value of the more than 700 seized iPhones is more than 10 billion VND.
Hao admitted that he was hired to transport used phones from Singapore to Vietnam for 2 million VND per trip. When he arrived in Singapore, someone would contact him to deliver the goods at Changi International Airport or at a hotel so he could bring them back to Vietnam to sell.
Police determined that since the beginning of September, Hao has left the country for Singapore about 12 times to commit the crime.
The case is under further investigation.
