Lewandowski scores five goals in nine minutes as Bayern thrash Wolfsburg.

The Polish striker made history in Bayern's 5-1 victory over their Bundesliga title rivals on the evening of September 22nd.

Wolfsburg opened the scoring in the 26th minute through Daniel Caligiuri in their away match at the Allianz Arena. However, last season's runners-up suffered a major shock when Lewandowski scored five goals in quick succession at the start of the second half.

Lewandowski came on as a substitute after halftime and it only took him six minutes to equalize 1-1. The Polish striker then went on to score four more goals in the 52nd, 55th, 57th, and 60th minutes.

This is the fastest five-goal-per-match record in Bundesliga history, and it was achieved in a high-stakes match between two title contenders. Lewandowski's five-goal haul transported viewers back to the carefree, early days of football.

Bayern's emphatic victory over Wolfsburg allowed them to overtake Dortmund and claim the top spot in the Bundesliga. Dortmund will play their sixth matchday away at Hoffenheim today.

Wolfsburg entered the match with great confidence, having defeated Bayern in their two most recent encounters in the Bundesliga and the German Super Cup. The visitors nearly opened the game with a spectacular goal, but Guilagovui's lob from over 50 meters went wide of the Bayern goal.

However, Wolfsburg didn't have to wait long to score first. Expensive signing Julian Draxler provided a superb assist for Caligiuri to volley the ball into the net from a tight angle against Bayern.

Bayern only truly changed with the arrival of Lewandowski. The Polish striker, with his intelligent runs and diverse finishing abilities, gave his former teammate Dante a nightmare on his first return to the Allianz Arena.

Three of Lewandowski's five goals came from close-range finishes, one from a spectacular long-range shot. The fifth was a beautiful overhead volley.

Lewandowski's five goals in just nine minutes shattered Wolfsburg's morale, and the match was effectively over by the 60th minute.
