The mid-size SUV has an additional third row of seats to accommodate large groups, giving it an advantage over its competitors.

After some unclear information about whether Lexus will produce a 7-seat RX or not, the Japanese luxury car company has now officially confirmed it. Lexus General Director Jeff Bracken told Automotive News that the 7-seat version of the mid-size RX SUV will go on sale in late 2017 or early 2018.

This information does not surprise the media as well as industry insiders because Lexus has been testing this version for a long time. Developing a third row of seats for RX is not a difficult task for Lexus because its brother Toyota Highlander currently has 3 rows of seats.

To distinguish it from the current RX, Lexus will add the letter L to the end of the product, for example, the 7-seat RX350 will be called RX350L, similar for RX450hL and RX200tL.

The RX is Lexus' most important model at the moment. The small crossover sells more than 100,000 units a year, accounting for 28% of the Japanese luxury brand's sales over the past seven years.

In the US market, RX is one of the first luxury SUVs to appear since 1998, creating a trend that continues to this day. The demand for 7-seat cars among Americans is very high, as Lexus dealers all reflect this about the company. Adding an extra row of seats to the RX can solve many problems, keeping customers from thinking about other models.

In Vietnam, the new generation Lexus RX is sold for 3.06 billion for the RX200t while the RX350 version is priced at 3.337 billion.
