The United Nations (UN) human rights office announced on January 25 that it had established a three-member international investigation team into the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to...Reuters.
The independent panel will examine the nature and extent of state involvement and the responsibility of individuals in the killing. The investigative team will visit Türkiye from January 28 to February 3 and report to the UN Human Rights Council in June.
It is unclear whether the investigation team has sought to reach out to Saudi Arabia or whether the country is cooperating. The Saudi mission in Geneva did not respond to a request for comment.

Mr. Roger Stone was arrested by the FBI on the morning of January 25 at his home in Florida.CNNquoted his lawyer as saying.Stone was indicted by a District of Columbia grand jury on January 24 on seven counts brought by special prosecutor Robert Mueller.
Stone, a longtime Trump adviser, is accused of trying to steal emails from WikiLeaks with the intent of damaging Trump's opponents in the 2016 White House race, at the direction of a senior campaign official.
His charges include one count of obstructing an official investigation, five counts of making false statements and one count of witness tampering.

According to a VNA correspondent in South America, on January 25, a tailings dam burst at the Corrego do Feijao iron ore mine in Minas Gerais state, southeast of Brazil, causing thousands of cubic meters of mud and water to flow into surrounding residential areas, leaving at least 200 people missing.
According to an announcement by the Vale mining group, the owner of the mine and the world's largest iron ore producer and miner, the incident occurred in the early afternoon of January 25 (local time) and at that time there were about 1 million cubic meters of mineral waste in the reservoir.
