Lunar New Year holiday schedule for Binh Than 2016 may be 9 days
Because the Lunar New Year 2016 falls on the last 4 days of two consecutive weeks, workers will be able to have 9 consecutive days off like the previous two years without having to swap days off.
Yesterday, October 15, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs submitted to the Government a proposal for the 2016 Lunar New Year holiday schedule.

Accordingly, because this year's Tet holiday has 5 full days off in a week, including the 4 weekend days of the two weeks before and after, workers will have 9 full days off. Specifically, the Tet holiday for workers is from 1/1 to 5/1 of the lunar calendar (ie from 8/2 to 12/2/2016), the 4 weekend days are 6, 7/2 (28, 29 of December) and 13, 14/2 (ie 6, 7 of January). Thus, workers will have consecutive days off from 6/2 to 14/2 (ie 28 of December to 7 of January, Binh Than year).
Also in the submission, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs requested the Prime Minister to authorize this agency to notify administrative, career, political and social organizations to know and implement the holiday schedule for holidays and Tet in 2016.
During the Lunar New Year 2014 and 2015, workers were also given the opportunity to take 9 days off, but thanks to the policy of swapping weekly days off. This year, for the first time, workers can have 9 consecutive days off for the Lunar New Year without having to worry about having to work to make up for the swapped days off before or after.
