Asian Cup 2023 knockout round schedule
Round of 16: 28/1 - 31/1
Quarter-finals: 2/2 - 3/2
Semi-finals: 6/2 - 7/2
Final: 10/2

The 2023 Asian Cup brings together 24 of the continent's best teams. Host Qatar is also the defending champion of the tournament, having defeated Japan 3-1 in the final 5 years ago.
According to the rules, the teams will compete in a round robin in each group to select the 12 best first and second place teams and the 4 best third place teams to enter the round of 16.

At the 2023 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team is in Group D with strong opponents including Japan, Iraq and Indonesia. Interestingly, Iraq and Indonesia are also the two opponents of coach Philippe Troussier and his team in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia. In this year's tournament, the Vietnamese team will compete at three stadiums: Al Thumama (against Japan, January 14), Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium (against Indonesia, January 19) and Jassim bin Hamad Stadium (against Iraq, January 24).
