COMPETITION FORMAT AT WORLD CUP 2014
- 32 teams, divided into 8 groups to play round robin.
- Each win gets 3 points, draw 1 point, loss 0 points.
- 16 group winners and runners-up enter the round of 16.
- From the round of 16 to the knockout stage.
In the event that 2 or more teams have the same number of points after the group stage ends, the ranking will be determined based on the following criteria:
1. Have the highest goal difference in all matches of the group;
2. Score the most goals in all group matches;
3. Win more points in head-to-head matches;
4. Have a higher goal difference in head-to-head matches;
5. Score more goals in all head-to-head matches;
6. The FIFA Organizing Committee conducts the draw.
- Each team participating in the final round is entitled to register 23 players, including a minimum of 3 goalkeepers. The deadline for submitting the list is 10 days before the start of the tournament. In case of last-minute injuries, teams can change the list up to 24 hours before the opening match of the tournament.
