Asian Football Confederation imposes heavy fines on brawl at SEA Games 32 final
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has punished 7 members of the U22 Thailand team and 7 members of the U22 Indonesia team for participating in a brawl in the final match of the 32nd SEA Games.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has imposed penalties on members of the U22 Thailand and U22 Indonesia teams involved in a brawl at the 32nd SEA Games final on May 16. In addition, the AFC also required the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) to pay a fine of 1,000 USD, while the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) was not fined.
Seven members of the Indonesian U22 team were punished by the AFC, including three players: Agung Bagus Fawwazi, Komang Teguh, Taufany Muslihuddin and four members of the coaching staff: Tegar Diokta, Ahmad Nizar, Toid Sarnadi, Sahari Gultom. All were banned from participating in 6 matches. Except for midfielder Taufany Muslihuddin and assistant coach Sahari Gultom, the remaining 5 people were fined 1,000 USD.
On the U22 Thailand side, 7 members were also banned for 6 matches, including 4 players: Soponwit Rakyart, Chayapipat Supunpasuch, Purachet Todsanit, Thirapak Prueangna and 3 coaching staff members: Bamrung Boonprom, Mayeid Mad-Adam, Pattarawut Wongsriphuek.
Three people had to pay a fine of 1,000 USD: Soponwit Rakyart, Mayeid Mad-Adam, Pattarawut Wongsriphuek. Meanwhile, the remaining 4 members of U22 Thailand were only banned from participating in matches and were not fined.

The brawl in the 32nd SEA Games final broke out after U22 Thailand equalized 2-2 in the 90+8 minute and rushed into the technical area of U22 Indonesia to celebrate provocatively. Members of both teams rushed into a fight, before entering extra time and things got worse.
When U22 Indonesia raised the score to 3-2, both sides got into a brawl, causing the match to be interrupted for more than 8 minutes. The referee showed a series of red cards to players and coaching staff of both teams. After the match resumed, U22 Thailand continued to have 2 more players sent off for foul play.
Indonesia U22 won 5-2 in the final match and won the SEA Games men's football gold medal after 32 years of waiting. However, the brawl on the Olympic field is a stain in the history of Southeast Asian football and stunned the international media.
