The delegates focused their discussions on issues of religion, marriage, family, and gender equality.

On February 25th, in Tra Vinh province, the Vietnam Women's Union organized a conference to gather opinions from female officials, religious leaders, and Khmer ethnic minority members to contribute to the draft amendment of the 1992 Constitution. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, President of the Vietnam Women's Union, chaired the workshop.

At the conference, delegates highly appreciated the content of the revised draft Constitution, noting that it inherited elements from previous constitutions and reflected the country's new development trends. However, the draft still has many issues that need to be supplemented and further clarified.

During the session, delegates focused their discussions on issues of religion, marriage, family, and gender equality. Regarding Article 27 of the draft amendment to the 1992 Constitution, many delegates proposed retaining the content of Article 63 of the 1992 Constitution, in order to more fully reflect gender equality, the status of women in society, and their rights in fulfilling their role as mothers.

Regarding Article 25, Clause 1 of the Draft, which states: "...All religions are equal before the law," delegates argued that this is not sufficiently precise and could easily be exploited by malicious individuals to commit illegal acts. Therefore, they proposed amending it to "All religions recognized by the State are equal before the law."

Regarding marriage and family matters, the draft amendment, in Clause 1, Article 39, states: "Men and women have the right to marry and divorce..."

Delegates argued that regulations regarding marriage age and responsibilities in building a happy and progressive married and family life were not clearly defined.

Therefore, the delegates proposed retaining the content of Article 64 of the 1992 Constitution to affirm the role of the family in society and the humanistic nature of the nation.
