National Professional Music and Dance Festival, Phase 2

Within the framework of the 2nd National Professional Music and Dance Festival - 2012 (currently taking place in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province), on the evening of August 13th, the public enjoyed 20 performances by the two youngest art troupes out of 32 participating troupes nationwide.

The Luu Huu Phuoc Song and Dance Troupe from Tay Do Theater, Can Tho province (which just celebrated its 5th anniversary), brought a special artistic program to the festival with the theme "Songs of Love," showcasing the unique cultural characteristics of the Tay Do river region with its four representative ethnic groups: Kinh, Hoa, Cham, and Khmer. Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong, Deputy General Director and Head of the troupe, said: "Our troupe is the youngest in this festival."

This is our first time participating in the festival, and we're both nervous and excited. With the theme "Songs of Love," Can Tho has a very clear message: the people of Can Tho are very generous, and the four ethnic groups live together in harmony. And we hope that our contribution to the festival doesn't mean placing too much emphasis on achievements."

On this trip to the Central Highlands, the Vinh Phuc Provincial Performing Arts Troupe (established in 2005) presented to the audience in Buon Ma Thuot city a performance titled "A Picture of the Countryside," based on the troupe's theme, divided into two parts: "The Sacred Soul of the Mountains and Rivers" and "A Picture of the Homeland," vividly showcasing the colorful cultural life of the Northern Midlands and the history of the formation and development of the beautiful and prosperous Vinh Phuc province.
