The Vietnam Folk Song Festival will be held in Nghe An in May 2015.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 12th, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a working session with Vietnam Television (VTV) regarding the coordination of the 2015 Vietnam Folk Song Festival in Nghe An. Attending the meeting were Ms. Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives from several departments and agencies. Representing Vietnam Television was Mr. Pham Viet Tien - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television.

The Vietnam Folk Song Festival is a biennial program organized by Vietnam Television in collaboration with the Vietnam Folk Arts Association. Established in 2005, the festival not only provides a platform for folk songs, a genre facing extinction, but also creates opportunities for artisans and artists from various regions to interact and learn about the unique cultural values ​​of different ethnic groups. Simultaneously, it aims to discover, preserve, maintain, and conserve original folk melodies, reflecting regional characteristics, along with exceptional folk singing voices.

According to the plan, this year's festival will begin on March 28th. Following that, the finals will be held in six regions: the Northern Delta and Midlands, the Northern mountainous region, North Central Vietnam, the Central Highlands, South Central Vietnam, and the Southern region. The final night of the 6th Vietnam Folk Song Festival and awards ceremony is scheduled for May 17th. Prior to that, on the evening of May 14th, there will be an exchange activity between folk singers from across the country and the people of Nghe An province.

Also as part of these activities, coinciding with the 125th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth and the Sen Village Festival, Vietnam Television (VTV) plans to organize a live broadcast on the evening of May 18th with the theme "Ho Chi Minh's Aspirations". This is a special artistic program, presented in three parts: aspirations for freedom, aspirations for peace and reunification, and aspirations for Ho Chi Minh... The program will review the historical milestones throughout President Ho Chi Minh's journey to find a way to save the country and liberate the nation.

During the meeting, Vietnam Television (VTV) and the People's Committee of Nghe An province discussed the content of the programs and the planned schedule. On behalf of Nghe An province, Ms. Dinh Thi Le Thanh affirmed that this is a very good opportunity for Nghe An to promote its Nghe Tinh folk songs and the image of Nghe An to people nationwide through television. To ensure better implementation, the province hopes that Vietnam Television will have a specific and scientific plan. Based on this, the province will assign responsibilities to relevant departments and create all conditions to ensure the program achieves the highest possible effectiveness.
