Ban Ki-moon also reiterated his full support for a peaceful solution to end the conflict in Ukraine.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on February 23 that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin had agreed to call on all parties in Ukraine to quickly and fully implement the Minsk agreement, signed on February 12 in Belarus.

According to Mr. Dujarric, at the meeting between UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moonand Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, the two sides discussed the conflict in Ukraine as well as the United Nations' humanitarian operations in the conflict-affected areas of the country.

Regarding Ukraine's proposal for the United Nations to deploy a peacekeeping force in eastern Ukraine, the UN Secretary-General emphasized that the UN Security Council would provide specific guidance on this matter. Ban Ki-moon also reiterated his full support for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine.

According to the latest United Nations report, the death toll from the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine rose to 5,793 as of February 19, with nearly 15,000 others injured.

The foreign ministers of the Quartet on the situation in Ukraine, comprising Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and France, are expected to meet in Paris on February 24th to discuss recommendations for implementing the Minsk agreement.
