Yemen's official news agency Saba reported that Arab coalition fighter jets bombed headquarters of the Yemeni armed forces in the center of the capital, which has fallen into the hands of the Houthi Islamist rebel group.
This area is also densely populated with civilians. The airstrikes injured more than 100 others, and the death toll could continue to rise.
Rescue and medical personnel are currently working to find people buried in the rubble of homes after the airstrike.
In a statement yesterday (June 6), UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon reiterated his call for all parties in Yemen to participate in consultations in Geneva starting June 14 in good faith and without preconditions, for the benefit of the Yemeni people.
