Arab coalition airstrikes on Yemen kill 44 people

Today (June 7), the Saudi-led air campaign targeting the capital Sanaa claimed the lives of 44 people, half of them civilians.

Yemen's official Saba news agency reported that Arab coalition warplanes bombed Yemeni armed forces headquarters in the center of the capital, which has fallen into the hands of the Houthi Islamist rebel group.

The area is also densely populated with civilians. The airstrikes injured more than 100 others and the death toll is expected to rise.

Rescue workers and medical workers are currently trying to search for people buried in the rubble of houses after this airstrike.

In a statement yesterday (June 6), UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon reiterated his call on the parties in Yemen to participate in consultations in Geneva from June 14 with goodwill and without preconditions for the benefit of the Yemeni people./.
