Continuously caught 'giant' catfish on Ban Ve hydroelectric lake
(Baonghean.vn) -In two consecutive days, a fisherman in Mai Son, Tuong Duong caught two 'giant' catfish, one of which was nearly 2m long and weighed 15kg.
On the afternoon of July 23, while fishing at Ban Ve hydroelectric lake (Mai Son, Tuong Duong), Mr. Vi Van Yen (born in 1976), residing in Hoa Ly village, My Ly commune, Ky Son district, was surprised to discover "a giant animal" caught on the hook.
“When I first lifted the line, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Seeing the fish’s teeth emerge from the water, I thought it was a monster that only appeared on TV. It took me nearly 30 minutes to get the fish onto the boat,” said Vi Van Yen.
Immediately after discovering that it was a "giant" catfish, a trader in Muong Xen town made his way to buy this fish from Mr. Yen for more than 7 million VND.
But it seems that Mr. Yen's luck has not ended yet. This morning (July 24), he caught a catfish weighing nearly 8kg and sold it to a trader right after that for more than 3 million VND.
It is known that Mr. Yen has been fishing on the hydroelectric reservoir for nearly 10 years, but this is the first time he has caught such a huge fish.

Catfish, along with bream, bream, and catfish, are among the precious specialties of the rivers and streams of Western Nghe An. They often live in river sections with strong currents.
Catfish costs about 400,000 to 500,000 VND/kg depending on the size of the fish, the bigger the fish, the more expensive it is.
People in the Nam Non River source area, the section of the river belonging to My Ly commune on the Ban Ve hydroelectric reservoir, often catch this fish. However, in the section of the river belonging to Mai Son commune, Tuong Duong district, they rarely catch it. Currently, this fish is becoming increasingly scarce due to the increasing number of people fishing./.
