According to the investigation, at 1:30 a.m. on June 5, at Hamlet 3, Phu Thanh Commune, Nhon Trach District, the District Police caught Tran Thanh Viet (commonly known as Viet Trang), 31 years old, residing in Phu Thanh Commune, Nhon Trach District, in the act of illegally possessing drugs.

At the same time, Tran Ba Thinh, Viet's friend, passed by and saw his friend being arrested, so he drove home and invited Luong Kim Son to go rescue Viet. Thinh took two homemade knives, gave Son one, Thinh kept the other, and ran to where the police were escorting Viet.
Son and Thinh rushed into the police car and shouted for Viet to be released; at the same time, they used homemade knives to violently attack the police. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Viet climbed onto Thinh's motorbike and fled. Son continued to use the homemade knife to threaten the police, blocking the way for Thinh to take Son to escape.
Nhon Trach District Police arrested Viet while he was hiding in Ben Luc District, Long An Province. Upon learning of Viet’s arrest, Thinh and Son went to Nhon Trach District Police to surrender and confessed to all their crimes. It is known that all three subjects were addicted to crystal meth.
