Flexible grading of high school graduation exams
In the guidelines for grading essay-based subjects in the 2014 high school graduation exams, the Ministry of Education and Training emphasized encouraging creative essays and requested flexibility in the grading process.
Specifically, for the Literature subject, the grading guidelines require examiners to thoroughly understand the requirements of the grading guidelines in order to comprehensively evaluate the candidates' work, avoiding the method of simply counting points for each idea.

Due to the nature of Literature as a subject, examiners need to be flexible in the grading process, encouraging essays that are emotional and creative but do not violate moral standards and the law.
In addition, any detailed breakdown of the scores for each question (if applicable) in the grading guidelines must ensure consistency with the total score for each question and be agreed upon by the grading committee.
The Ministry of Education and Training also stipulates that after adding up the total score for the entire test, the points should be rounded to the nearest 0.50: 0.25 is rounded to 0.50; 0.75 is rounded to 1 point.
For History and Geography subjects, the grading guidelines also advise examiners to be flexible during the grading process and encourage creative work.
Currently, the Departments of Education and Training have begun the exam grading process and affirm that they have thoroughly discussed the guidelines from the Ministry of Education and Training before grading.
The Ministry of Education and Training requires localities to submit preliminary reports on exam grading results and graduation recognition no later than June 18th.
