US soldiers equipped with anti-UAV guns

The 10-day exercise at Camp Pendelton by the US Marine Corps has just debuted a series of high-tech urban warfare weapons.

Most notable among these is the appearance of the Drone Killer gun produced by IXI.

Current US counter-drone equipment includes radio control and jamming systems, also known as “electronic fences,” and directed energy weapons.

These devices are used to protect forward bases, airports or facilities of high strategic value.

But these systems are massive and fixed and cannot be used in a mobile manner. In addition, threats often target small outposts on the front lines, or convoys, infantry units and security personnel operating in areas far from controlled airspace.

This device can instantly shoot down a remote-controlled aircraft or control it to a desired location.

The Drone Killer is streamlined with a bullpulp design that brings the system toward the buttstock, reducing the length to just 24 inches, shorter than an M4 Carbine.

The designers at IXI technology have succeeded in reducing the fully charged weight to just 3.5 kg allowing for maximum flexibility and maneuverability.

To adapt to today's basic equipment, the Drone Killer is also equipped with a Picatinny rail accessory mount that can be customized according to individual requirements, and gun strap attachment points on both sides.

The Drone Killer works on the principle of using radio waves to disrupt control by interrupting communication data on frequencies.

The sensor range is up to more than 3 kilometers and the effective range is limited by visibility to 400 meters.

Operating environment ranges from minus 20 to over 40 degrees Celsius. During combat, it can operate continuously for 4 hours or 8 hours in sensor mode.

The charging system uses Li-lon batteries with a 12V plug to increase operating time.

Convoys or mobile infantry units in uncontrolled airspace with just one or two Drone Killer units deployed will provide a protective umbrella against drone attacks.
