Liverpool reaps Chelsea's 'green rice'
The Anfield team successfully acquired young striker Dominic Solanke, who is participating in the U20 World Cup, when his contract with Chelsea ended in early June 2017.
Liverpool did not pay a transfer fee for the 19-year-old striker, but had to pay a training fee of 3.8 million dollars to Chelsea. Solanke will receive a salary of 26,000 dollars a week at Anfield from next season.
The British media considers the Solanke deal a bargain for Liverpool as the young striker has the potential to develop. Solanke did not have the opportunity to play for Chelsea's first team but has won the FA Cup twice, the European Youth Cup, and the European U17 Championship. He is currently playing for England's U20 team at the U20 World Cup in Korea.

Coach Antonio Conte had tried to persuade Solanke to stay, but Chelsea could not meet the 19-year-old's salary demands. Meanwhile, Solanke's agent stressed that the young English striker left Chelsea because he wanted more playing time. At Liverpool, Divock Origi, another talented young striker, does not have a regular position.
"Solanke's motivation is to play for the first team, to develop all his abilities and to win titles with the club he is dedicated to," said Solanke's representative.
Last season Solanke was on loan to Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, scoring seven goals.
