Liverpool reaps Chelsea's 'green rice'
The Anfield team successfully recruited young striker Dominic Solanke, who is participating in the U20 World Cup, when his contract with Chelsea ended in early June 2017.
Liverpool did not pay a transfer fee for the 19-year-old striker, but had to pay a training fee of £3.8 million to Chelsea. Solanke will receive £26,000 a week at Anfield from next season.
British media consider the Solanke deal a bargain for Liverpool as the young striker has the potential to develop. Solanke has not had the opportunity to play for Chelsea's first team but has won the FA Cup twice, the European Youth Cup, and the European U17 Championship. He is currently playing for England U20 at the U20 World Cup in Korea.

Solanke is considered the future of England in attack. |
Coach Antonio Conte tried to convince Solanke to stay, but Chelsea failed to meet the 19-year-old's salary demands. Meanwhile, Solanke's agent stressed that the young English striker left Chelsea because he wanted more playing time. At Liverpool, Divock Origi, another talented young striker, is not even a regular.
"Solanke's motivation is to play for the first team, to develop all his abilities and to win titles with the club he is dedicated to," said Solanke's representative.
Last season Solanke was on loan to Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, scoring seven goals.
