Liverpool draw again, Dortmund win big in Europa League

Jurgen Klopp's Anfield debut was not as expected as Liverpool could only draw 1-1 with Rubin Kazan, who were down to 10 men from the 36th minute.

The Reds, with home advantage, were expected to beat Rubin Kazan, a team struggling to stay in the Russian Premier League. Liverpool's advantage was further enhanced when captain Oleg Kuzmin was sent off in the 36th minute with a second yellow card. However, Klopp's side still struggled to break down the opponent's defense.

The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute through Marko Decic. Emre Can equalised before half-time. In the final minutes, substitute striker Christian Benteke hit the woodwork.

Liverpool had 31 shots in the match, 80% of which were outside the goal. This was Liverpool's third draw in the Europa League this season after three matches. The Anfield team finished second in Group B, four points behind Sion.

Klopp's first match at Anfield created a festive atmosphere before the match. Not only were the fans excited, Liverpool owner John W. Henry himself was at Anfield. The enthusiastic cheers from the stands could only fuel the players in the first few minutes. Liverpool played fast, pressing but then played worse when the visitors took the lead.

Liverpool's attack lacked creativity in the final 60 minutes, allowing them to score the winning goal.

Klopp's former club Dortmund eased to a 3-1 win over Qabala. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a hat-trick. The striker has scored 14 goals in 12 appearances this season. Dortmund are top of the table with seven points.
