Liverpool completely transformed after the defeat at Wembley last Sunday, playing with the same hunger as Jurgen Klopp declared before the match. Adam Lallana, James Milner, Firmino were the ones who scored, helping the home team successfully avenge their loss.
Man City, compared to the final, only lacked one star, Yaya Toure, but played very poorly. The away team did not create any dangerous chances, only had four shots.
While Leicester, Tottenham and Arsenal all stumbled, the Etihad team failed to take advantage of the opportunity to close the gap. Losing their third consecutive match in the Premier League, coach Manuel Pellegrini is facing a mountain of difficulties as his team is 10 points behind the leader Leicester, having played one game less.
The match was dull until Liverpool broke the deadlock in the second half.suck 34. Lallana decided to shoot from about 20 meters away. The ball did not go strong but was dangerous and hit the visitors' net. Outside the field, coach Jurgen Klopp also expressed surprise at the home team's goal, a situation that was not dangerous but effective.
The goal was like a shower of rain that cooled Anfield. The red players played more and more smoothly, constantly pressing. In the 40th minute, Liverpool doubled the gap. Lallana, Firmino and Milner had a smooth combination in the middle, helping the former Man City player escape and defeat Hart for the second time.

Raheem Sterling, the former Liverpool player, had a disastrous return to Anfield. The young English midfielder has never played well in three encounters with his former team. Sterling was taken off at the beginning of the second half.
Coach Pellegrini's adjustments were ineffective as Man City players showed an inexplicable lethargy. In the 57th minute, defender Otamendi carelessly passed the ball to a Liverpool player, helping the home team counterattack. Lallana broke through the blue defense, then made a favorable pass for Firmino to score.
The victory keeps Liverpool on course for a place in next season's European Cup. The Reds are currently on 41 points, six behind Man Utd but have played one game less.
