Liverpool continue to win despite Coutinho starting

The port city team was held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at Anfield in round five of the Premier League.

Liverpool created 35 attacks on Burnley's goal but only found the back of the net once. They even let Scott Arfield put the visitors ahead with a decisive strike from inside the box. However, just three minutes later, Mohamed Salah equalized with a powerful finish after a pass from Emre Can.

Salah's fifth goal of the season for Liverpool only brought a point for the Anfield team.The home team almost had to swallow the bitter pill if Joel Matip had not promptly blocked the ball on the goal line after Ben Mee's header.

Liverpool welcome back Philippe Coutinho to the Premier League with Sadio Mane suspended. This is only the Brazilian midfielder's second appearance and first start for Liverpool this season.

Despite demanding a move away this summer, Coutinho showed that he wasted no time getting back into the swing of things with his teammates. Coutinho was deployed as an attacking midfielder behind the trio of Firmino, Salah and Sturridge. The Brazilian midfielder had only one touch of the ball behind centre-back Ragnar Klaven before being substituted in the 79th minute.

Coutinho's diligence and creativity helped Liverpool maintain a superior position against Burnley. However, his poor finishing ability meant that he and his teammates often sent the ball to goalkeeper Nick Pope or out of the goal.

This is the third consecutive match that Liverpool have not known victory, after losing to Man City and drawing with Sevilla in the Champions League last week. They are five points behind the leading position of Man City (8 compared to 13 points) in the Premier League.
