Liverpool breaks Man Utd's scoring record in Champions League
Coach Jurgen Klopp and his team have scored 33 goals since the beginning of the tournament, setting a new record for English football in the prestigious European arena.
A 2-1 win over Man City at the Etihad saw Liverpool surpass Man Utd's 32-goal mark in the 2002-03 Champions League, becoming the English club to have scored the most goals against an opponent in a single season. The Anfield team have only played 10 games, while Man Utd's record was set in 14 games.
Furthermore, Liverpool still have at least two games left in the semi-finals, to improve their scoring record. The club that has scored the second most goals in the Champions League this season is Real Madrid, with 25 goals in nine matches.

Despite Gabriel Jesus scoring in the second minute, reducing the aggregate score to 1-3, Liverpool still defended strongly. In the second half, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino scored to seal a 5-1 victory, sending Liverpool into the semi-finals.
Salah and Firmino also set club records by becoming Liverpool's highest-scoring players in a single Champions League season, with eight goals each.
The Merseysiders also became the first club to beat a Pep Guardiola-led team three times in a single season. In addition to their two Champions League quarter-final victories, they also beat Man City 4-3 at Anfield in the Premier League return leg.
