In light of the increasing number of attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on civilian infrastructure in the LNR, Olga Kobtseva, representative of the Lugansk People's Republic in the humanitarian subcommittee of the Contact Group, called on the team of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to pay attention to international law.
Earlier, the LNR Emergency Situations Ministry announced that this week two people were injured as a result of shelling by Ukrainian forces, as well as damage to houses and power lines in the villages of Frunze and Golubovskoye. The LNR specialized ministry is constantly monitoring and recording an increase in the number of shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces on civilian infrastructure in the area.
“It is within the framework of international humanitarian law that it is forbidden to bombard important civilian infrastructure, in particular power lines and water supply systems. As for residential buildings, there is simply no need to comment further,” Ms. Kobtseva told journalists.
“Unfortunately, the statements of the head of Ukraine are radically different from the reality since the moment he took office. Taking into account that in his statements Mr. Zelensky constantly emphasizes the humanitarian factor, I would like to draw attention to the humanitarian situation today: his forces are destroying residential buildings, injuring and causing damage to civilians,” the representative of the LNR said.
