After Mr. Michael Flynn resigned as US National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump, another famous military general was appointed to replace him.

Retired Army General Keith Kellogg has been named acting National Security Adviser to President Donald Trump after Mr Flynn resigned under pressure.

According to Fox News, on the night of February 13, Mr. Michael Flynn submitted his resignation from the position of National Security Advisor to the US President because of the many rumors surrounding his contact with the Russian Ambassador to the US before Mr. Donald Trump took office. Following this decision, Lieutenant General Kellogg was appointed to replace him.

Mr. Kellogg, 72, served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War and received several military medals, including the Silver Star. He was the commander of the famous 82nd Airborne Division in 1997-1998.

Before Trump took office, Mr. Kellogg appeared at Trump Tower many times to meet with the new leader. He was considered by those around him to be one of President Trump's closest advisors, with authority second only to Mr. Michael Flynn.

The Nation reported that the general has been particularly interested in the issue of “computer-controlled warfare” since his retirement. He was known to have held the position of Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Cubic Corp., a contractor specializing in providing ground combat training programs and technical support to the Pentagon.

With 32 years of military experience, Mr. Keith Kellogg also helped run the Iraqi Interim Government Coalition between November 2003 and March 2004.

Like his predecessor Flynn, Mr. Kellogg also has a harsh view of jihadist Islam and sees the Islamic government of Iran as an enemy of the United States. He was selected to join Mr. Trump's campaign team in March 2016 as a foreign policy advisor.

Earlier, Mr. Michael Flynn wrote in his resignation letter that he “inadvertently” briefed top officials on incomplete information related to his phone call with the Russian Ambassador. “I sincerely apologize to the President and Vice President, and they have accepted my apology,” he wrote in the letter.

The White House said Mr Trump was “assessing the situation” regarding conversations between Mr Flynn and the Russian ambassador to the US, to gain more clarity about the adviser’s future in the administration.
