Concerns that Chinese intelligence is using "beauty tricks" to steal information at the G20
British officials attending the G20 summit in China have been warned of information theft using "beauty tricks".
British security is very concerned that Chinese hackers and intelligence are taking advantage of the G20 to collect confidential information from the British government.
China is notorious for using technology and even old tactics like bugging hotels.

To cope, staff were told to change under blankets if they suspected they were being secretly filmed, and to use temporary phones and emails. They were also not allowed to keep any gifts from their Chinese hosts, such as USB sticks and phone chargers.
In addition, many countries have accused China of using beautiful female staff as bait for foreign politicians, and Britain is no exception. In 2008, a member of Gordon Brown's entourage took a woman to his hotel room in Shanghai. The next morning, he woke up to find all his documents and phone missing.
Security in Hangzhou was also tightened during the G20. Citizens were either evacuated from the city or were given vouchers from the government. The atmosphere was also tense after Chinese security personnel blocked the path of an adviser to US President Obama.
