A new series of affordable small cars has been launched.
Suzuki Celerio, Nissan Datsun Redi Go, Tata Zest, and Ford Figo – a host of affordable small cars have just been launched at the Auto Expo India.
As one of the largest developing markets in Asia, India is an important destination for many car manufacturers, with the budget car segment receiving the most investment.
Therefore, at the country's largest auto show, Auto Expo 2014, the focus of attention was on a series of affordable small cars from various brands such as Nissan, Suzuki, Ford, and Tata.

Japanese automaker Nissan is showing great ambition by simultaneously launching three models under its budget-friendly Datsun brand, including a new concept car called the Redi Go. These affordable Nissan products will go on sale in India from March onwards, with expected prices starting at $8,900.
While Nissan offers affordable options across three other segments, Suzuki focuses on the small car segment to compete with the Kia Morning, Honda Brio, and Hyundai Grand i10. Suzuki's new product, the Celerio, is the production version of the A-Wind concept car unveiled at the 2013 Thailand Motor Show.

The Celerio measures 3,600mm in length, 1,600mm in width, and 1,560mm in height, with a weight ranging from 810 to 830 kg. This model is equipped with a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine producing 67 horsepower and 90 Nm of maximum torque. In India, the Suzuki Celerio is priced from US$8,739 to US$11,115.

Although no official price has been announced yet, the compact Ford Figo concept car has already attracted considerable customer interest. The Ford Figo boasts a modern and youthful design. Ford is targeting first-time car buyers with this model, so it will likely have an attractive price.
In addition, the Tata Zest and Toyota Etios are also noteworthy names in the small car segment at this year's Auto Expo.
